Dan Schweizer, President Dan has been a board member since 2015 and serves on the Negotiations Committee. He previously served on the board from 2007 to 2011. Dan farms west of Nickerson; he has been a farmer all his life. Dan is married to Cindy Schweizer, and they have three children who all attend or have attended USD 309 Schools. In his spare time, Dan enjoys watching Panther athletics and watching his children compete.

Valorie Garcia, Member Valorie has been a board member since 2018. She is the Accounts Payable Associate for Reno County Clerks office, where she has worked since 2009. Valorie is married to David Garcia. They have 2 children; Tre’ and Adan who attend or have attended USD 309 Schools. Valorie is involved in Panther Pride. In her spare time, she loves watching her very active boys with all of their sports, other activities, and being with family and friends.

Gordon Roth, Member Gordon joined the USD 309 board in 2020. He is a proud graduate of NHS and grew up on a local dairy farm. His father served on the USD 309 BOE in the '70s while he was a student in the district. Gordon is currently employed with Central Prairie Co-op. He served previously on the Nickerson City council for 6 years and is currently on the Nickerson City Planning Commission. He is an active 32-year member of the Reno County District 3 Fire Department. Gordon enjoys collecting antique farm machinery and is a self-proclaimed "basketball junkie", attending and following area basketball teams.

Mike Apfel, Member Mike Apfel has been a board member since 2015. He serves on the District Facilities and Strategic Planning Committees. He works at Showalter Farms and has been there since 2010. Mike has one daughter who currently attends Nickerson High School. In Mike’s spare time, he enjoys watching his daughter compete in sports.

Brent Engelland, Member Brent has been a board member since 2018 and serves on the Board Negotiations Committee. He is a mechanic with Kansas Department of Transportation, where he has worked since 2000. Brent also farms south and west of Nickerson since 1998. Brent is married to Jodie Engelland. They have four children; Bryanna attends college in Colby, and Brooke, Brylee, and Taylor all attend USD 309 schools. In Brent’s spare time, he enjoys watching his children compete in athletics. |
