Penny Stoss has 31 years of experience in education. She started her educational career as a grade 1 teacher at South Hutchinson Elementary. She served USD 309 for 14 years and returned to USD 309 in the fall of 2016 as the Assistant Superintendent. Stoss has great affection for USD 309’s staff, students, families, and culture and is delighted to be back to her roots at USD 309.
While absent from USD 309, Stoss served as an elementary principal for 5 years and Director of Early Childhood Programing for 9 years at McPherson. While in McPherson she worked under the current Kansas Commissioner of Education; Dr. Randy Watson and was part of the original team that designed Citizenship, College & Career Ready programs for the district.
She currently serves on several state & local boards that promote early childhood education and is active in continuous curriculum improvements and committees. She holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a 2nd master’s degree in Building and District Leadership.
